Upgrading my 3GS to iOS4 earlier today. Slowly trying to figure out what has changed and what hasn’t. What I know so far:

my home screen background switch to whatever I had setup as my wallpaper

Folders appeared – I like this feature a lot. Nice to be able to group apps and cut down on pages

The Mail – looks like my Gmail is now setup like my exchange account. You can have multiple exchange accounts and calendars. Really like this. Still wish I could merge my contacts somehow and have them all the same.

Thats it for now, hope to have a full rundown later.

Update: Looks like it is bringing all my contacts together from Gmail and Exchange. Only had a couple of multiple entries when I looked at all contacts. This is a great add.

I had been looking at the Night Train since it came out last year. It had all the makings of a great little amp for worship settings. Sometimes my AC15 is a little on the loud side! But with the 7-15 watt switch the Night Train seemed to be the perfect solution. Well last week one of my buddies ordered a Night Train half, he like me had read the reviews and was impressed with the online videos and sound files. He had used my AC15 live in a club setting and had plenty of juice for whatever he needed to do. Well his amp came in yesterday, and I couldn’t wait for the call to tell me I had to get one of these. Well the call came during a coach pitch game so I when I called back I was surprised to hear total disappointment on the other end. I couldn’t believe it, hundreds of great reviews online, and Justin said it was useless for anything other than some studio work or bedroom practice. He still had my AC15 and said there was no comparison. So today we road out to his house for a little sound check. He wanted to make sure it was just him, and I had to hear this little amp for myself. Man was I shocked. It sounded so thin, no bottom end at all. Justin’s comment was “its toy like”. I mean you could work and get some playable tones but you would have to go back to the amp and EQ it if you switched pick ups on his Strat. Plugged up side by side the AC15 spanks the Night Train for any sound you want. Clean, Break Up, Loud, Quiet, doesn’t matter the AC15 keeps your tone and keeps it bite. The Night Train is boxed back up and going back to Musicians Friend as I type. I guess the point of this story is you can’t always believe everything you read online! Like any musical instrument, you better play it for yourself to be sure you like it. Looks like I will be sticking with my custom classic.

Don’t usually review Non-Christian CD’s or even buy that many of them to be honest with you, but there was something about “Slumberland”. I saw yesterday where Lee DeWyze “Slumberland” CD had debuted at #32 on the Billboard Heatseekers chart. After a quick Google search I found Lee’s website and several links to the album. A quick listen to a few tracks on his website, and I headed over to CDBaby for a better listen to the whole CD. Man I can’t believe what I was hearing. The album sounded solid, you only got bits and pieces of songs, but it was really pretty good. Definitely sounded like something I would listen to. So I made the quick download and loaded it up on my iPod.

The CD has ten tracks, 5 of which I would definitely recommend for a download:

So What Now – download it

All Fall Down

Annabelle – this one is growing on me

Princess – Download it

Flower Child – man I really like this one, download it

Where You Lie – download it

Stay – Download it

Another Sleep Song – growing on me

Sweet Sweet – sorta bluesy country, cool tune

Good Night

Throughout the album you will find some bluesy gritty vocals, sweet harmonies, and good licks from piano to guitar. I don’t know if this is the kind of album Lee will make after American Idol, but he should. I guess “Stay” or “Flower Child” are my favorites. The albums feels real and passionate, not your typical modern day studio record. The lack of autotune on the vocals keeps this album so real and personal, more artist should try this! Nothing wrong with song human if you ask me. You can get all the download links at www.leedewyze.com.

The Suntimes also has a nice little piece about the album HERE

Update: I should have noted, anyone that is a fan of the Bluestravelers, Dave Matthews, or even Pearl Jam (Some of their more acoustic stuff) will really like this CD. My wife actually thought it sounded like the Zac Brown Band on some of the songs.

On Sunday our church will recognize to young ladies that will be going into the mission field. Both of these girls are simply amazing, they have truly given their life to Christ and are following his example. Both are college graduates, both had lots of career opportunities, but both have set all these things aside to go to the world and spread the message of Christ.

I can’t imagine what it must feel like to be the parent of one of these two. To see your daughter grow and devote themselves to the spread of the gospel in a foreign land. Man that is amazing, and must also be extremely stressful. Margaret is headed to Laos and Sarah is headed to the Philippines. Both are going as self supported missionaries.

Just to think our church has been around for well over a 100 years, and we have had many surrender to the ministry, but I don’t believe we have ever had to surrender to become missionaries. These guys truly are modern day heroes.

My wife was checking out some blog sites this week and reminded me of this scripture in Matthew 25. Really powerful stuff when you think about it. How often do we turn our back on Jesus? Are you a sheep or a goat? Reminded me of a great song by Decemberadio – Least of These and this great video on YouTube.

31 “When the Son of Man comes in His glory, and all the angels with Him, then He will sit on the throne of His glory. 32 All the nations will be gathered before Him, and He will separate them one from another, just as a shepherd separates the sheep from the goats. 33 He will put the sheep on His right, and the goats on the left. 34 Then the King will say to those on His right, ‘Come, you who are blessed by My Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world.

35 For I was hungry

and you gave Me something to eat;

I was thirsty

and you gave Me something to drink;

I was a stranger and you took Me in;

<sup>36</sup> I was naked and you clothed Me;

I was sick and you took care of Me;

I was in prison and you visited Me. ’

37 “Then the righteous will answer Him, ‘Lord, when did we see You hungry and feed You, or thirsty and give You something to drink? 38 When did we see You a stranger and take You in, or without clothes and clothe You? 39 When did we see You sick, or in prison, and visit You?’

40 “And the King will answer them, ‘I assure you: Whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of Mine, you did for Me. ’ 41 Then He will also say to those on the left, ‘Depart from Me, you who are cursed, into the eternal fire prepared for the Devil and his angels!

42 For I was hungry

and you gave Me nothing to eat;

I was thirsty

and you gave Me nothing to drink;

43 I was a stranger

and you didn’t take Me in;

I was naked

and you didn’t clothe Me,

sick and in prison

and you didn’t take care of Me.’

44 “Then they too will answer, ‘Lord, when did we see You hungry, or thirsty, or a stranger, or without clothes, or sick, or in prison, and not help You?’

45 “Then He will answer them, ‘I assure you: Whatever you did not do for one of the least of these, you did not do for Me either. ’

46 “And they will go away into eternal punishment, but the righteous into eternal life.”

I know I feel like I am called to do so much more, but yet I continue on complacently with my life. Reading scripture like this makes me wonder why? Why am I just setting here doing nothing? Nothing to share God’s love, nothing to help those in need? Maybe I am doing more than I realize, but I shouldn’t be content. I am making it a point in my life to do more.

My wife and I recently purchased Mother’s Day gifts (Uganda Necklaces) from 147 Million Orphans. I know this isn’t much, but its a start. We have a great team leaving our church in just a few days headed to the Philippines, and I am praying for their trip. I hope they are able to show God’s love to someone that has never seen it. I hope that one day our church is able to send multiple groups of people out to world to show God’s love, and I hope that one of them is me. I encourage everyone to find something, someone, anyone they can reach out to and show God’s love. I am so thankful that I have a wife with a heart that is full of love for everyone but herself. I hope that I can be that unselfish myself.

I know we all have our favorite tab sites, but sometimes we Google a song and come up empty. Sometimes we find a chart that just doesn’t seem to be exactly right. If you find this to be the case, you might want to try the artist or songwriters website. I know a lot of popular Christian bands and songwriters actually put their chord charts/lyrics online. What better place to get a chart than from the actual songwriter or performer. Here are a few of my favorites that have their songs online:

Pocket Full Of Rocks

Brenton Brown

Jesus Culture Music

Big Daddy Weave

Fee Band (Steve Fee)

Lead Worship with Paul Baloche

Addison Road

I am sure there are many more out there, these are just a few of the artist that I know put their chord charts online. Feel free to comment with others that do the same.
